HISTORY: HAWAIIAN AIRLINES is the largest airline in Hawaii. Began operations on October 6, 1929 as Inter-Island Airways, a subsidiary of Inter-Island Steam Navigation Company. On October 1, 1941, the name was changed to Hawaiian Airlines when the company phased out the older Sikorsky S-38 and Sikorsky S-43 flying boats.
