HISTORY: FIJI AIRWAYS founded in 1947 as Katafaga Estates Ltd. Was the flag carrier airline of Fiji. It was based in Nadi and operated international and domestic services to 10 countries and 17 cities around the Pacific Ocean, including Oceania, the United States and Hong Kong. In September 1951 renamed to Fiji Airways. After Fiji gained independence from Great Britain in 1970, the new national government began buying shares and the airline was renamed Air Pacific to reflect its regional presence.
