HISTORY: AIR UK was formed on 1 January, 1980, by merging Air Anglia, Air Wales, Air West and British Islands Airways (BIA) into a single entity. All four airlines were members of the British & Commonwealth Shipping Group. In 1997, KLM became Air UK's sole shareholder when it acquired B&C's stake in British Air Transport (Holdings). The following year Air UK was renamed KLM uk.
