MALAYSIAN AIRWAYS

IATA: - 127 ICAO: - FOUNDED: 1963 CEASED OPERATIONS: 1966

HISTORY: MALAYSIAN AIRWAYS, was a Malaysian airline. It started as Malayan Airways Limited (MAL) in Singapore on 12 October 1937, but the first paying passengers could be welcomed on board only in 1947, some 10 years later. When Malaya, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak formed the Federation of Malaysia in 1963, the airline's name was changed, from "Malayan Airways" to "Malaysian Airways" (though still abbreviated to MAL). In 1966, following Singapore's separation from the federation, the airline's name was changed again, to Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA).
